In our regional our team was one of the best at scoring Algae, both in the barge and in the processor. But, weren't as good when it came to scoring Coral on the reef.
We were the 1st pick of the 7th Alliance led by team 4656 Rock Solid Robotics from Two Harbors, Minnesota. Our 2nd pick was team 6709 S.P.U.D INC. from Big Lake, Minnesota. We got 7th in the playoffs, losing in the loser's bracket at the start of round 2.
Even though we didn't bring home a trophy for winning the event, we still got an award that means a lot to us. We won the Industrial Design award. The judges saw how our robot both worked well and had a nice design with the strategically placed triangular holes to reduce weight.

After our team worked on our robot throughout off-season we had noticeably changed our robot. Now, our coral claw could pick up coral off the ground and place it on the reef past level 1.
The claw was on a wrist and was made of carbon fiber instead of aluminum, allowing us to stay inside weight parameters while making our robot work better than before. There was no "Unicorn Horn" on this claw, instead the coral nested inside the claw fully and there was a wheel in the middle that shot the coral out vertically; instead of angling the claw downwards at the prongs.
Dropping coral wasn't as easy to do because we had two wheels on both top and bottom, making the coral nearly impossible to unintentionally fall out of the claw.
During competition we were 1st for majority of the day, mostly because Toolcats, team 3276 from New London Spicer, MN had broken part of their robot and it took them some time to fix it. Once they did, we went down to 2nd and held there for the rest of the day.
In playoffs we were the second alliance captain and we chose Binary Battalion, team 7028 from St. Michael, MN. They recommended that we pick Orange Crush, team 3026 from Delano, MN.
We made it all the way to finals and lost to Alliance One led by Toolcats, team 3276; with ROCORI, team 4728 from Coldspring, MN as their 1st pick. And Raiders of the Lost Spark, team 7530 from Watertown, MN as their 2nd pick.
